I’m a senior copywriter who loves to create beautiful, insightful work for ambitious brands.
I started out in B2B marketing, writing content about concrete, haulage and business software. Then I found my calling as a creative copywriter in branding/advertising, and discovered clients in sectors more aligned with my own interests: booze, football and ice cream. I still approach work with the strategic rigour I learned in those early days, combined with cultural sharpness, storytelling flair and a dash of humour (when I can get away with it).
My career was made in Manchester, particularly at creative agency LOVE, where I was schooled in non-traditional thinking, worked on major campaigns for global brands as a senior writer and then led a brilliant team as copy director.
I love the zoomed-out, big ideas stage of a project. I relish the nitty-gritty, craft-heavy moments too. I’ve written fame-driving TV ads and knockout headlines, tone of voice guidelines to cut through the noisiest categories, packaging copy that practically puts the bloody thing in the basket for you, and loads more brilliant stuff I’ve forgotten about.
I take inspiration from my favourite writing: vintage New Yorker stories, jazz liner notes, punk fanzines and rap blogs. Now based in London, I work both as a solo copywriter and as one half of a creative team with Ollie Mills. Away from work you’ll find me reading a lot, talking about football, playing padel (new obsession), making too many playlists, going outside and staying optimistic.
